Have you ever dreamed of making your own homemade french baguettes and having them served warm for breakfast in the morning?

I know it sounds complicated at first, but not with this recipe!

My challenge was to share with you a baguette recipe that will taste as good, or even BETTER, than the one you can find in bakeries. While keeping the recipe simple and super easy to follow.

No need to add flour at random times of the recipe, no need to wait 12 hours until finally putting the baguettes in the oven, and no need to have professional bakers’ skills to come through this recipe!

Being French myself and having been used to have fresh bread from French bakeries every day for over 17 years of my life, I am very happy to be satisfied enough to share this recipe with you and to be able to compare it to baguettes made by professionals.

This baguettes are delicious to eat plain, especially warm, but I absolutely LOVE having some with hummus, curry, soups, or avocado toasts… I hope you’ll enjoy this recipe!

Calories per serving: 375 – Macros: 22g P/ 154g C/ 5g F

Prep time: 5 minutes –     Cook time: 26-28 minutes –     Yield: 4 servings (2 baguettes)


  • 400 g strong white bread flour
  • 7 g active yeast
  • 1 tsp (7 g) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 16 ml/ g of vegetable oil (I use avocado oil) or vegan butter (I use olive spread)
  • 200 ml warm water


  1. In a mixing bowl, add the flour, active yeast, sugar, salt, and oil.
  2. Mix with the back of a wooden spoon.
  3. Add warm water to the mixture.
  4. Mix with the back of the wooden spoon, then knead with your hands until dough is uniform and comes together.
  5. Shape the dough into a ball and cover it with a clean tea towel for at least 1 hour, until dough has doubled in size.
  6. Remove tea towel and roughly knead the dough again.
  7. Separate the dough into 2 equal pieces.
  8. Shape each piece into a long loaf by rolling each of them into a sausage of the length of your oven tray. Start by gently rolling with your hands in the middle, focusing on backward and forward movements.
  9. Add baking paper on a baking tray (optional), and put the baguettes on the baking tray.
  10. Preheat the oven to 180.C (356.F).
  11. Cover the baguettes with a tea towel for at least 45 minutes to allow the baguettes to raise.
  12. Remove tea towel and use a very sharp knife to slash each baguette 4 times along the length on the diagonal.
  13. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes, until the edges of the baguettes are slightly brown.
