Heat up a cooking pan on high heat and cook the onion in a spash of water* until onion is brown. Add water as cooking if onion sticks to the pan.
Turn of the heat and add the can of baked beans in tomato sauce along with the chickpea flour. Mix well with a wooden spoon until the mixture is uniform and comes together. If the mixture seems too liquidy, add some more chickpea flour or cook for slightly longer on low heat.
Remove the pan from the heat and let cool completly. Once cooled, use your hands to shape 3 burgers.
Toast the burgers using either a grill, an air fryer, an oven or a cooking pan. I use a grill and toast the burgers for about 4 minutes. Flip the burgers after 2 minutes if necessary, depending on the method you use**.
Serve warm, and enjoy!
*This recipe is oil-free which is why you will need a splash of water to cook the onion in the pan. If you wish you can use 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil instead of a splash of water to cook the onion.
**I recommend flipping the burgers halfway through cooking if you toast them in an oven, an air fryer or a cooking pan. It is not necessary to flip them if like me you are using a grill.
